ANTIFANTASY
(SCREENPLAY BY CHRISTIAN FR!DAY FREED)

1. ON MY RADAR

ACACIA KOMODO, the Komodo leader, is thrust
to the forefront of Xorgy's environmental
crisis that's slowly eating away at the
planet.
ACACIA KOMODO stands upon the tallest tree
in the land, the Zeetree, accompanied by
the hundreds of Komodo councils. Their
faces spotlight on ACACIA. The crowds roar
in confusion until ACACIA speaks.
ACACIA
This devastation is not by
natural cause! Nor by any
magic!
The crowds silence and look among one
another.
ACACIA (cont'd)
The ancient songs have
prophesied the ending for
hundreds of generations.
The crowds murmur and whisper to their
neighbors.
RANDOM KOMODO 1
The trees have soured! The
lands have all dried up!
RANDOM KOMODO 2
The end was said to be
peaceful! Not sickness and
death.
ACACIA's lips seal as the councils thunder
once again.

ACACIA
Not once have we abandoned
peace for panic!
The councils, once again in silence, direct
their focus to the Komodo leader.
ACACIA (cont'd)
The scrolls.
ACACIA motions to a nearby Komodo monk, who
then hands over a scroll, rolled up neatly.
ACACIA (cont'd)
The gem.
The monk proceeds to hand over a red rubylike gem and KOMODO crumbles it in hand.
ACACIA unravels the scroll and a scarlet
radiance is unleashed from the page.
ACACIA (cont'd)
If the end is among us... I
see no other way. We call
upon the ancient spirits!
We invoke the light of the
beyonds!

2. DON'T TRY TO SAVE ME

YOUNG UGLY, equipped with jet-propulsion
space boots, speeds through the cosmos. Not
too far behind UGLY, STARFORCE police bots
nip at his tail!
UGLY
Crap! My air tank is almost
empty!
STARFORCE
Return the Eco-gem or
suffer the consequences!
The robot star-ships fire multiple lasers,
targeting UGLY.
UGLY
Rocket-boots, power off!
The jet-pack spurts and UGLY ducks, dodging
the lasers by a hair.
UGLY (cont'd)
Oh man! I hope these stones
are as strong as they say.
STARFORCE
The Eco-gem requires strict
protocol! And you are
wanted for termination.
UGLY
You've been bullying this
galaxy for way too long,
dick!
UGLY continues to duck and dodge,
desperately gripping the Eco-gem. The
center glows a deep blue, surrounded by a
soft white light.

UGLY (cont'd)
I don't think I can fight
my way out of this... So
here goes nothing!
UGLY cracks the gem in half with one piece
in each hand. The blue aura seeps from the
gem and blankets over UGLY! YOUNG UGLY
vanishes into the sapphire cloud, leaving
the STARFORCE bots in the dust.

3. THWIPPIN'

Back on planet Xorgy.
ACACIA & the council leaders sit atop the
Zeetree & examine the rotten lands
surrounding them. The ground is scattered
with fallen trees as far as the eye could
see.
KOMODO 1
Never did I think we would
see the end of the Komodon
Council.
ACACIA
All that blooms must
succumb to age. But not all
endings are truly the end.
Suddenly the ground shakes. The mighty
Zeetree rumbles and the Komodos cry out
from below. A deafening crack rings out in
the sky like a shock-wave. And like
lightning, a blue streak soars across the
sky, crash-landing among the fallen trees.
ACACIA (cont'd)
Barricade the Zeetree!
(mutters to
self)
I'm unsure of what else we
must face before our time
is up.
Before the councils could prepare
themselves, the blue flash erupts from the
crash site. The councils cry out in panic
but ACACIA sits patiently & studies the
field. ACACIA raises the prickly green
cactus-staff in one hand while holding the
luminescent scroll in the other.

ACACIA (cont'd)
I sense confusion. Fear,
in fact. Not a threat.
The flash of light approaches and hovers
above the Zeetree. Wrapped in the frosty
cloud of blue, YOUNG UGLY peers through the
light, pieces of the Eco-gem in each hand.
UGLY
Wow, I took a wrong turn
somewhere.
ACACIA
Vacate the beam and show
yourself!

4. BATTLE OF THE GODS

YOUNG UGLY & ACACIA KOMODO stand side by
side, examining the split Eco-gem
fragments. The cobalt glow lingers, and a
soft hum comes from its core.
ACACIA
These Eco-gems that you
have... They radiate a
powerful energy - so
powerful, in fact, I do not
believe it to be safe.
UGLY
Well it was powerful enough
to get me here. It was
quite expensive too.
ACACIA
This gem is blue, unlike
the red crystals here on
our planet.
The Zeetree courtyard gleams in the night
sky, swirling with the ocean-like glow.
UGLY
Red, blue - what's the
difference?
The sky cracks, this time with violent
intent. The earth shakes with another
crack, and another, and another after that.
ACACIA
Above! Doombringers above!
Ghoulish humanoids, hooded in black cloaks,
so dark they absorb the light around them.
Sure enough, Doombringers flood down from
the sky.

UGLY
Excuse me, did you say
'Doombringers'?!
The unsuspecting Komodo people retreat to
the inside of the Zeetree. The final dozen
of the Komodo guard braces for battle,
protruding small shields of light from
their staffs.
ACACIA
They're attracted to
treasures that possess
great power - treasures
we've refused to wield. We
haven't encountered these
monsters for centuries.

5. UP TOP

Thunderous cracks and zaps and booms happen
overhead of ACACIA & UGLY. Doombringers
rain down like angry wasps.
ACACIA (cont'd)
Shields up! Brace
yourselves!
The Councils shield themselves with spotted
layers of green magic sheets. UGLY shakes
his head with a smirk, fangs growing longer
& sharper. UGLY grabs a small grenade from
his hip, placing it in the bottom of his
boot.
UGLY
Stay down here then. I'm
going up!
UGLY springs into the air like an animal,
and the grenade detonates, launching him
high into the sky. UGLY zaps the hoard with
a laser gun but it has no effect.
ACACIA holds firm on the defensive. Raising
high the jagged plant-staff, ACACIA
continues to feed the shields a transparent
plasma-like stream. The Doombringers' drop
black jagged blots onto the Komodo shields,
and they begin to crack.
ACACIA
There is far too many.
Their Shadowglass is far
too powerful! We must
retreat into the Zeetree!
*battle noises
*"retreat!!!"

UGLY is nicked by falling shard of
Shadowglass, and he tumbles back to the
ground.
UGLY
Use the gems! Use that blue
gem!

6. SHOWDOWN

UGLY breaks the fall with the jet boots.
Ducking & rolling, UGLY manages to dodge
the incoming Shadowglass. UGLY slides into
the Zeetree, a small slice along his back.
UGLY (cont'd)
Do it! Use the Eco-gems!
The blue ones!
ACACIA reaches for the Eco-gem fragments,
waving them both onto the glowing scroll.
ACACIA is clouded by the blue luminescence,
much like it covered UGLY before.
ACACIA
The light... The lights of
the beyond...
The lights are reaching out
to us! We must follow them!
Before either have a chance to say another
word, the Eco-gem's glow scoops ACACIA &
UGLY into the air, vanishing into a wisp.
ACACIA & UGLY open their eyes to see a
green landscape with tall pine needled
trees and snowy mountain peaks. Thick puffy
clouds rest overhead & snow falls lightly.
UGLY
Where are we? This place...
it feels...
ACACIA
It feels like a place I've
been before.
A bright ball of light approaches them,
floating to the ground, and morphs into the
form of a small black dog.

UGLY
It's a dog?
ACACIA
We have met before. But
how? From where?
TYM
The Eco-gem that you
possess is one of great
rarity - in fact, it is
the last Eco-gem of it's
kind. Without it, the
universe is doomed to an
unimaginable fate. I am
Tym. The land before you
now is The Beyonds.

7 GOBI

ACACIA & UGLY continue listening to TYM,
sitting in the snowy grass. The pine aroma
travels in the whispering wind. Night falls
upon them.
TYM (cont'd)
Your world is suffering.
And the entire universe
will suffer the same fate
without the Eco-gem, for
it's power is what holds
together the stitches of
reality.
ACACIA
Did the scroll calls work?
And what of my Komodo
people? What can we do to
reverse the damage done?
UGLY
The stitching of reality?!
This is moving way too
fast. One second, I'm on
the run from Starforce.
Next thing I know, I meet
Acacia, and then those damn
Doombringers are raining
down on us!
TYM
Doombringers? If what you
say is true, there is
little that can be done.
Now that the Doombringers
know you have such a
treasure, they will scour
endlessly until they find
you.

UGLY
If this is the last gem,
then we've gotta move! Or
hide, right?
TYM
The gems cannot be hidden
and outrunning the
Doombringers is impossible.
The only option is to
attempt Renewing the gem.
UGLY
How do you suppose we do
that?!
ACACIA
Then what of the Komodos?
My people, my family?! What
will become of my planet?
TYM
The fate of the Komodo
people - the fate of all
life forms are now in the
hands of you both. I'm
sending you off to another
planet. You must Renew the
gem, in hopes to birth a
new line of Eco-gems.
TYM's form shifts from the small black dog
back to the hovering ball of light,
powerful yet soothing. The blue fragments
float into the sky, synced with TYM's
movement.
ACACIA
And these new Eco-gems,
will they protect my
planet?

TYM
They will have the power to
sustain life across the
galaxy for the millennia to
come. And with this scroll,
you may summon me only
once. Now off - to the
planet of Rubal Illahk you
go!
TYM hands ACACIA a golden scroll and zooms
off into the starry sky. ACACIA & UGLY
begin to glow as well, and the air around
them begins to vibrate. Without a word,
they are beamed off into the sky by a silver
stream.

8 DON'T LET ME GO

In a flash, ACACIA & UGLY find themselves
in a vast bed of sand, with a bulbous
yellow sun overhead. The silver gleam
continues to armor their bodies.
UGLY
Rubal Illahk... I didn't
think it really existed!
The land of treasures! ...
but why here?
ACACIA
There! A structure, near
the line of clouds! The
scroll... It's a map,
titled "Bamihk Belov".
UGLY
The old gang I used to run
with - they always talked
about Bamihk Belov & Rubal
Illahk. Rumored to be -
ACACIA
"The Renewer of Things"...
A rebirther of energy.
A day's journey ahead lies the Bamihk
Belov, a glass-like crystallized temple
that sits under the low hanging clouds.
With the power of the rocket-boots, UGLY &
KOMODO soar through the air followed by the
silver gleam. They cut through the flying
sand like a dagger through flesh.
UGLY
If this "Bamihk Belov" can
really rebirth energy, why
wouldn't someone have done
it already?

ACACIA
One would assume such a
simple solution.... Yet I
fear something more
sinister awaits.
They zip across the desert sky, escaping the
sun's merciless rays. As they approach
Bamihk Belov temple, the clouds become
thicker & darker, stirring violently.
ACACIA & UGLY reach the crystal monument &
enter with haste.
UGLY
Someone's been here. The
torches along the inside -
they're all lit! But who?
Who coulda found this
place?
ACACIA
Get down!!!!
*ZAP ZAP ZAP
Laser cannons zap the surrounding walls,
streaming fire around ACACIA & UGLY. Some
of the mirror-like interior crumbles &
scatters across the floor.
STARFORCE
Target acquired. Return the
Eco-gem immediately.
Execution is imminent.
UGLY
Ahh!! I got hit! ...agh,
hit bad... Starforce
police!? I should'a known
they would track us
somehow!

9. Last level goodbye

UGLY sits, leaning against the crumbled
wall, his abdomen swelling with blood. The
ZAPS continue, and fires spread across the
temple interior. The STARFORCE bot extends
4 spider-like legs from its round base, and
with 2 small front pincers, the bot holds a
violet box.
STARFORCE
We have the Renewer. The
Eco-gem is STARFORCE
property.
ACACIA
Your hunger for power will
swallow you whole!
STARFORCE
STARFORCE program has yet
to fail for over 90
decades. With the Renewer,
we will create a new Ecogem with the power
reprogram the universe.
ACACIA
You're nothing but a hollow
shell!! Power of
Protection, shield up!
A wall of green light forms, separating the
bot from UGLY & ACACIA. UGLY lies on the
ground, bloodied and bruised, eyes shut.
ACACIA (cont'd)
Could it be... It must be
the Renewer! UGLY, I'll
heal you with my weapon...
although it will weaken our
chances...

ACACIA raises the cactus staff and snaps it
in half, releasing tens of chromatic
bubbles, which absorb into UGLY's skin. The
wounds seal. The blood fades before
vanishing completely. UGLY's eyes slowly
flutter open, and he regains his breath.
UGLY
Wow... I can't believe
that worked. I thought that
was it for me!
ACACIA
I'm afraid that this was
never the end. That bot has
the Renewer!
STARFORCE
New threat detected. New
threats detected.
UGLY
What could it be now?! We
need to grab that damn box.
A buzz-like hum grows louder and louder.
The floor and walls begin to rumble.
Hundreds of shrieks echo through the
tunneled hall of Bamihk Belov. ACACIA &
UGLY scramble to their feet, knowing exact
the source of the hideous sounds.
ACACIA
Doombringers!!
ACACIA lowers the protection shield and the
STARFORCE bot charges at them, violently
shuffling its spider-like legs. Behind
them, the piercing buzz grows sharper, and
around them, the crystal walls begin to
hairline crack.

ACACIA & UGLY stand back to back, pinned
between the STARFORCE bot and the incoming
hoard of Doombringers.
UGLY
No time for a plan. Lets
kick some ass!
UGLY's fangs sharpen and his fingers morph
to jagged claws. Springing forward,
propelled by the rocket-boots, UGLY crashes
into the bot, bringing the mechanical giant
to the floor.
ACACIA
I can't hold them off for
too long!
Doombringers funnel down the crystal
hallway, led by their buzzing howls. ACACIA
lunges forward, thrusting both hands out.
ACACIA (cont'd)
Power of Protection! Komodo
Frequency!
Green spiraling beams ascend from ACACIA's
palms, colliding with the Doombringers, and
stops them in their tracks. Many
Doombringers fall dead, but the swarm
continues to ooze through.
UGLY
I've got the Renewer!
UGLY raises the violet box, standing over
the defeated STARFORCE machine. UGLY leaps
toward ACACIA, adding support to the fire
power.

UGLY (cont'd)
Hold the box! I've got
this!
UGLY slashes through the stew of
Doombringers, dodging their slashing
Shadowglass attacks.
ACACIA
There's too many! Get out
of there!
Tens become hundreds and hundreds become
thousands. The Doombringers close in on
UGLY, one by one, striking him with the
dark sword-like glass.
ACACIA (cont'd)
Young Ugly!!
UGLY
Go find Tym! Renew the Ecogem!
ACACIA's frantic hand-blasts tear through
Doombringers but not at a fast enough rate.
For every beast killed, another 3 seemingly
appears in its place. UGLY falls to a knee,
continuing to fight until floored onto his
back. Gashes flow along the crystal
battleground floor and UGLY no longer
fights back.

ACACIA unravels the golden scroll in a
fury. Light erupts from the scroll, and a
powerful ring of fire surrounds ACACIA,
repelling the Doombringer invasion.
ACACIA
I call out to the Light of
the Great Beyonds! I summon
the strength and the allies
to defeat these wretched
beasts!
With a blinding flash & a thunderous boom,
TYM hovers above the battle as the grand
ball of light. The fiery ring dissipates
and ACACIA presses forward with another
round of spiraling blasts. TYM emits
another flash of light and blinds the
Doombringers, sending them into a fleeing
frenzy.
TYM
Use the Renewer, and wield
the Eco-gem, Acacia. It
will take all that you
have. My emissions will
only hold them off for so
long.
ACACIA grabs the Renewer off the ground and
grips the Eco-gem fragments, then looks to
see UGLY lying in a pool of blood,
lifeless.
ACACIA
I can't generate the
power... I can't do it
myself! That's why I called
out to you!

TYM
Oh, Acacia, but you can do
it.
ACACIA
I couldn't save Ugly... And
if I do this alone, there's
a chance I won't Renew the
gem... We will lose and
everything will die!
The Doombringers' buzzing howls echo down
the hallway as they swarm back towards
ACACIA. TYM's form changes, and from the
great ball of light comes the small black
dog once again. ACACIA grips the violet box
and clenches the gem fragments.
ACACIA (cont'd)
Tym! If I can't do this,
it is the end of
everything!
Doombringers flood the hallway, bouncing
from the walls and the ceiling, crying &
howling in unison. Shadowglass falls from
the beasts, like a storm of black rain.
TYM
All that blooms must
succumb to an ending, my
friend. And not all endings
are truly the end.
ACACIA remembers back to the day on Xorgy,
attempting to calm the panicking Komodo
families. The children frightened and the
elderly hungry. When YOUNG UGLY came
crashing down from the sky in a blue blaze.

Defending Xorgy against the unwelcome
Doombringers, and then fighting them again
and again. Traveling to distant planets and
dimensions while the fabric of reality was
at stake.
ACACIA
I know what I must do...
With a fresh breath of confidence, ACACIA
smashes the fragments into the opening of
the Renewer. The collision radiates a
shining ball which engulfs ACACIA whole and
blinds all nearby. ACACIA's arms and legs
continuously vibrate from the power of the
collision.
ACACIA (cont'd)
I know what I must do!
The chaos comes to a sudden halt. The noise
pauses, the vibration ceases, and the light
continues on for what seems like forever.
ACACIA (cont'd)
I feel... I feel free.
TYM
You've made it. Welcome.
Come walk with me.
ACACIA turns to see TYM by surprise, and
they walk alongside each other through the
room of light.
ACACIA
Where are we? Did we
succeed?

TYM
We did succeed. You did!
The Eco-gems have been rebirthed...thus, the living
can continue to grow. This
isn't the world you know,
but another. The world
farthest away.
ACACIA
The living? ... Are you
saying that we're dead?!
TYM
Where we are now is a place
where you can forever watch
over Xorgy as it heals.
That is what the living
would call 'dead', correct?
And you will protect Xorgy
with all your newfound
might for the millennia to
come.
ACACIA looks down and there it was by
pleasant surprise - the planet Xorgy,
floating below them. The planet one again
flows with green vegetation and tumbling
water. The children play and the elderly
tell their stories.
ACACIA
Wow... They really are
happy once again. Thank
you.
ACACIA looks down to Xorgy, then looks back
to TYM, then back to the sky of infinite
light.

ACACIA (cont'd)
Tym... What about you?
What will you do?
TYM
Why, I suppose I'll sit
here next to you for a
while.
